Staff health checks recently took place at Carlisle Healthcare as part of a new initiative inspired by staff feedback.

The checks were support by the MELISSA bus resource and included blood pressure checks, height, weight and lifestyle advice to support staff wellbeing.

Dr Robert Westgate, GP a Carlisle Healthcare said: "Following the staff survey in North Cumbria, across primary care, one of the wishes was to have access to health checks, so this afternoon we're trying that for the first time.

"The staff I've spoke to so far are enjoying the opportunity to take part. Everyone that attends will get a pack and within that pack there is some sign posting for some further information. This includes resources from our new Primary Care Services North Cumbria website which has a wealth of information about keeping yourself well at work and improving your health and wellbeing.

"Following today we'll be reflecting on our experience and feedback from staff and we'll take the learning from that as we role out this project across the breadth of North Cumbria."
