Link to the survey: NENC Primary Care Training Needs Analysis -24/25
The Primary Care Training Hub is pleased to announce the opening of this year’s Training Needs Analysis 24-25, which will be used to identify the training and development needs of the non-medical general practice workforce including:
- Nursing staff, registered and non-registered
- Administrative, Clerical and Management staff
- Multi-Professional Clinical workforce
- Personalised Care roles
The results will help them to identify areas where training is needed and ensure the outcomes are considered during planning and decision-making processes, to make best use of funding and resources across the localities and the wider North East and North Cumbria footprint for 24-25.

Following the completion of last years’ Training Needs Analysis, the data provided by staff was used to identify, commission and coordinate a wide range of training programmes across the North East and North Cumbria and also on a local footprint. It was also used to inform Continuing Professional Development (CPD) plans. Just some of the programmes provided include the following:
• A range of CPD programmes for registered nursing staff including; Core Immunisations, Travel Health, Clinical Skills, Non-Medical Prescribing, Contraception Initiation, Mental Health Study day
• Development of a comprehensive Healthcare Assistant programme, to upskill, equip and empower staff, including a competency framework to use in practice to support the training
• A series of training sessions for those working in Personalised Care Roles inc; Housing and Homelessness, Personal Health Budgets, Trauma and Bereavement
• A wide range of admin training for admin/clerical staff including; Medical Terminology, Role of the Chaperone, Patient Facing Skills, Clinical Coding, Summarising
• Training for Management staff; Business Development, Succession Planning, Preparing for CQC inspection.
The survey provides a fantastic opportunity for general practice staff to think about their current and future development needs.
